Tater After His Recovery

Tater was just a young neighborhood cat trying to get by when tragedy struck. On a cold, rainy day, he was hit by a car and left badly injured, with severe trauma to his face that inhibited his ability to eat. Alone and in pain, his chances looked grim.

Our team and foster network rallied around Tater, providing the food, medicine, and round-the-clock support he needed to stabilize. But his injuries went deeper than first aid could fix. The trauma had left him with significant damage that would eventually require oral surgery to repair.

Rescue Me covered the cost of that surgery, giving Tater a chance most street cats never get. The surgery didn't just repair his mouth after the accident. It also corrected a congenital birth defect that had been causing him chronic sinus infections and pain, changing his life dramatically. Slowly, he began to heal. The scared, hurting cat found on the side of the road started to trust again, then thrive.

Tater's transformation was nothing short of remarkable. As he recovered, Rescue Me had the opportunity to partner with a local assisted care facility, and Tater was placed there to socialize and meet the residents. That time is what helped him find his forever home: a nurse at the facility fell in love with his adorable, very orange personality, and Tater went home with his new mom soon after.

Today, the outdoor cat who once survived being hit by a car spends his days playing in the sink, relaxing in beds, and enjoying time with his orange cat family, proof of what's possible when a community cat gets a second chance.
